Propose an Analysis

 Propose an Analysis

The lead investigators of a proposed analysis should work with us to complete a Paper Concept Proposal as the first step in conducting an analysis. Proposals will be used to communicate the concept and scope of a project to study PIs and the GECCO Steering Committee. We will review proposals for overlap with previously approved proposals and, as appropriate, GECCO co-authors will be appointed to collaborate in the analysis and/or publication. It is expected that the majority of analyses will be conducted at the Coordinating Center (CC).

Please utilize the following when preparing your paper proposal:
  • Proposal to Publication Flow Chart: A summary of the major steps from submitting a GECCO paper proposal to publishing findings.
  • Paper Concept Proposal Template:  To be completed and approved before analysis can begin. Please list the SNPs of interest, or attach the list with your submission. If you are requesting to run analyses outside of the CC, please specify the reason for this. Please contact the CC with questions or for additional details about the studies or data.
  • Publications Policy:  An outline of the format and required items for each proposal submission. It provides analysis and publication guidelines for all collaborating investigators.
  • Data Elements:  A summary of clinical and epidemiologic variables that are harmonized across GECCO studies. It catalogs the definitions and permissible values for each covariate.
  • Variable Availability:  A list of clinical and epidemiologic data available for use in analyses for each participating study.
  • SNP and Gene ListA list of SNPs available for analysis. Genes are defined using the start and stop locations in the NCBI Gene database.
Please submit your proposal to GECCO Coordinating Center at gecco@fredhutch.org .

All manuscripts are required to be sent to us for review prior to publication submissions. We will ensure that manuscripts are approved by relevant study-specific PIs. Please allow 4-6 weeks for final approval. All manuscripts are required to include GECCO and relevant study funding and acknowledgement statements.
